There's the Epson XP-8500 and Canon TS-9120 and TS-8120. Other than dedicated photo printers-e.g., the Canon Pro-100 does a great job, and last I checked was $102 net of rebates through B&H-there are only a few current all-in-ones with significantly-enhanced photo-printing capabilities. My guess is that it can probably produce photos that are decent-looking, but don't expect the best results. It's not sold as a photo printer, and it only uses four colors of ink.

I don't know whether (2)(b) is possible with the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus's driver, but if it is not possible, then you cannot control it precisely, and have to try using (color) Managed by Printer in Lightroom.

That approach is likely to provide more frustration and disappointment than success.Īlso, you may well know all this, but you need to both (1) apply / convert to the right profile (best / most easily in the Lightroom Print module, Print Job panel, Color Management subpanel) and (2) in the printer driver (a) tell it precisely the paper you're using but (b) turn off all color correction / color management.

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges? Are you using ICC profiles that are specifically for the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus with HP Premium Plus photo paper? Because I can't imagine how you could have tried "so many different profiles" unless you just tried a bunch of different, but not applicable, profiles in the hope that one of them would sort-of work okay.

I beg for your opinions, reactions, feedback on my rant,Īn ICC profile is specific to the combination of printer + ink + paper (and requires / assumes a specific printer driver-based media setting). Might there be a way to FIX the color this printer is screwing up with my pictures? They're mostly too dark, too greenish/blueish, or just washed and terrible!

I'm on Windows 10, I'm wondering if going back to Windows 7 will make it any better? I've been searching online and so far I've found that there aren't many profiles available for this printer, I really don't know if that makes a difference, I fell like maybe this just isn't a good printer for printing pics.?Īfter googling 'Best Photo Printers 2018' I see what ARE good printers for photos, I guess I'll have to resort to Costco and whatnot to print my pics until I get myself a decent photo printer (Shutterfly is most definitely NOT an option, I ordered ~200 pics from them and the quality is very bad!)
